Ingredients
2 rolls ready-made puff pastry
Nutella (hazelnut cream), generous amount
(Can be substituted with jam, custard, pistachio cream, or chocolate spread)
1 egg (for brushing)
Add as Your Preference
Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Red fruits (raspberries, strawberries, or currants)
Instruction
1️⃣ Prepare the Filling
Gently soften the Nutella in the microwave for a few seconds until spreadable.
2️⃣ Assemble the Layers
Roll out the first puff pastry sheet on a flat work surface.
Spread 3–4 generous tablespoons of Nutella evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edge.
Place the second puff pastry sheet on top and gently press down.
3️⃣ Shape the Star
Place a small glass in the center of the pastry to mark the middle.
Cut the pastry into a cross shape, then continue slicing between each section to form 16 equal wedges.
4️⃣ Twist & Seal
Take two adjacent wedges at a time.
Twist them gently outward and pinch the ends together to seal.
Repeat until all wedges are twisted, forming a star pattern.
5️⃣ Egg Wash
Brush the surface with beaten egg for a golden finish.
6️⃣ Bake
Place the pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 200°C (top) / 180°C (bottom) for 15 minutes
Increase to 220°C (top) / 200°C (bottom) and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown
7️⃣ Cool & Decorate
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
Dust with powdered sugar and decorate with fresh red fruits before serving.
🍫 Serving Tip
Serve warm for a gooey Nutella center, or at room temperature for a crisp, flaky texture — perfect for sharing at the table.
